Screen Printing

Plastisol Ink | Metallic Ink | Full Colour

Our standard screen printing is anything but standard! Actually standard screen printing only refers the most common style of print we produce - all of our prints are exceptional!  Following are some of the most common sizes and styles we produce at ESP. If you’re looking for something a bit special, then be sure to check out the information about our specialty inks, oversize printing, team numbers and more.

PLASITISOL INKS

Plastisol is the ink of choice for most designs we print. It is an extremely versatile ink and can be used on most textiles including t-shirts, fabric, hoodies, jackets, totes etc. It wears very well, allows for bright & bold colours (including fluoros), easy to match to the Pantone Solid Coated System and creates great opaque whites on dark fabrics. If you want a bold and colourful print, then Plastisol is the choice for you!  But if it’s a softer print more luxurious print you are after, then our water based or discharge inks may be your ideal choice.

SPECIALTY INKS

Although Plastisol is the number one choice for most jobs we produce, it’s not for everyone. We also specialise in Water based and Discharge inks. But if you are still looking for something a little different we also offer a wide range of amazing inks that glow in the dark, reflect, puff or shine. We can print your shirts with metallic inks, glitter, puff ink, metallic foils, UV reactive ink, glow in the dark ink, fluro and more. Feel free to drop into our Dominion Road showroom  and we can show you the all the available options.

FULL COLOUR CMYK

If you are after a photorealistic print then our 4 colour process may be the one for you. For this method we use 4 colours; Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key Black to print a photorealistic image onto primarily white or light coloured garments. If you are wanting to print on dark fabrics, we suggest using our simulated process method.

SIMULATED PROCESS

This is our preferred choice for printing detailed, colour intensive graphics with a lot of blending and gradients. This method can be used on either light or dark fabrics, but is best suited to dark colour shirts. Unlike CYMK printing, the Simulated Process method can use anywhere from 2-10 colours to make up your image and this depends on the design.

PRINT SIZES

Our standard print size is anything up to 360mm x 440mm, but we can go huge! Check out our Jumbo and Full Bleed printing services.

PRINT POSITIONS

Our standard print positions include; centre front, pocket print, centre back, pocket, short sleeve, long sleeve, back neck and hem area. However don't let this stop your creativity, because if it has a flat surface we can print it!

Soft Feel Printing

Soft Feel Printing

Eco Friendly Water Based Inks | Discharge Printing

For super soft shirts, nothing beats water based & discharge inks. One of the biggest benefits of water-based & discharge ink is how soft the image remains after being printed. It's virtually unnoticeable to the touch and the perfect application on fine ringspun cotton fabrics. Once you try your first water-based printed tee, it’s very likely you won’t want to wear anything else ever again.

WATERBASED INK

DISCHARGE PRINTING

Water based ink is a solvent free ink that soaks into the fabric instead of sitting on top like our standard plastisol prints. Our eco-friendly water based inks don't have the “rubbery” feel of other inks and create an ultra soft print that has a virtually undetectable hand feel. Once you try a shirt printing using our water-based inks, you won’t want to wear anything else again! For water-based colours that ‘Pop’, we recommend using light coloured cotton garments. For soft feel Dark Coloured garments, we recommend our Discharge Printing. Both Water Based and Discharge are perfect for Large and Oversized printing.

Discharge ink is still a solvent free ink that soaks into a shirt’s fabric. However unlike water based ink, the discharge additive reacts under heat to remove or ‘strip’ out the fabric dye colour to expose the original un-dyed fabric, leaving a calico like colour. To add colour we mix the discharge agent into our ink to re-dye the print area once the discharge agent has removed the fabric colour. Discharge printing is perfect for creating soft prints and ideal for large prints. Not all shirt brands and colours are created equal when its comes to discharge printing, so before planning your design talk to us first so we can advise you on the best garments for your design.

Oversize Printing

Jumbo Size Printing | Full Bleed Printing

Oversize Printing

Jumbo Size Printing | Full Bleed Printing

Sometimes a design needs more impact than our standard printing will allow and thats when our Oversized Printing comes into it’s own.  We offer 2 kinds of Oversize Printing; Jumbo which is up to 400mmm x 600mm and we can print up to 5 colour designs and our Full Bleed printing which can cover the entire surface of a T-Shirt. Because our Oversize printing can require a lot of ink, we recommend discharge or water based inks for a softer more wearable print.

JUMBO SIZE PRINTING

FULL BLEED PRINTING

Need more printing real estate than our standard size? Well then is time for our Jumbo print sizing! Our Jumbo prints are pretty large, 400mmm x 600mm and we can print up to 5 colour designs. Because this size is going to require a lot of ink, we recommend discharge or water based inks for a softer more wearable print. With such a large print size, you will need to make sure your garments are going to be big enough to handle a Jumbo print. Our Jumbo presses can accommodate mens shirts sizes from Small up to 5XL.

Jumbo size prints are not ambitious enough? Want to print even larger? Well go ahead and bump it up with our Full Bleed printing! Full bleed (or all-over) printing on t-shirts is so large in size it is best suited for printing with discharge and water based inks. This allows the fabric of a garment to remain soft, pliable, and comfortable to wear. The all-over printing method varies greatly from that of standard, oversize, and jumbo. All-over printing is done by laying the shirt directly on top of an extra large pallet rather than having the pallet slide into the shirt.

THERE ARE A FEW THINGS TO CONSIDER WITH FULL BLEED PRINTING.

Designing for Full Bleed: We can print multicolour, but you need to talk to us first before designing your Full Bleed Graphic. Due to the nature of the print method and the technical limitations, we need to guide you through the process to best achieve your vision.

Seams, Folds & Creases: Anytime you print over seams, print imperfections are likely to occur. It is also normal for shirts to have a slight fold or crease in them around the edges, such as the armpit area. This is very common and will cause ink inconsistencies and needs to be expected. We will do our best to guide you through the process, but it is your responsibility to be aware of this. The only way to avoid these imperfections is to have us print your fabric before the t-shirt is constructed.
